The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) is a non-profit group supporting injured individuals that launched the Rebuilding Shattered Lives campaign. It seeks to emphasize empathy and assistance for those with preventable injuries and to ensure that they have an access to funds for rebuilding their lives and support their families.

Thanks to Hurricane Media, we had the pleasure of creating an animation for this organization, which depicts the story of a family that, despite the tragedy they faced, found their way forward with the help of APIL.

Authenticity in portraying the family's emotions was the most important thing in this animation. We depicted their sunny days before the tragedy, the abrupt confrontation with the new reality post-accident, and ultimately, their hopeful outlook on the future.

Achieving this authenticity was possible through a dynamic color palette that underscored the emotional layers. Abstract shapes and text manipulation also contributed to maintaining a serious tone throughout the narrative.

When it comes to the animation, we focused on limited camera movements when the story demanded it to enhance the emotional portrayal of characters. We played with sudden cuts and changes in perspective in more dramatic scenes for added impact. Elements of the background also moves accordingly to the feel of the scene.
